Chelsea fans are hoping a stand in their new stadium can be named after their current captain and club legend John Terry.
Blues fans have launched a petition backing the 36-year-old to be officially immortalised in club history by having his name emblazoned across a stand, following the news he is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Terry is set to depart his boyhood club after 22-years of service, during which he has won a clean sweep of football’s most prestigious honours.
The petition this week appeared upon campaign site Change.org by ‘Carefree Daily‘ and over 3,612 supporters have signed up to the cause.
Written with a bio beneath, the petition reads: ‘We, Chelsea fans, want the club to honour him by naming a stand at the new Stamford Bridge stadium after the greatest Chelsea Captain of all time.

Terry has confirmed his intentions to continue playing football beyond this season, despite his career now being well within its twilight period.
