Chelsea has been dealt a transfer blow by AS Monaco in the pursuit for Russian star Aleksandr Golovin; the clearest indication it is better to have Michael Emenalo as an ally rather than an adversary.

The former Chelsea Technical Director joined AS Monaco after a 10 association with the Premier League club.

On Friday, the first signs of the Nigerian’s battle credentials became evident following AS Monaco’s acquisition of Golovin, who was also a Chelsea target.

The 22-year-old midfielder was to become an integral part of the revolution at either club, but, apparently was sold on the vision in Ligue Un.

DEAL DONE: AS Monaco have signed Aleksandr Golovin from CSKA for €30m on a 5-year contract. He’ll wear no.17.

It is believed Emenalo and his successor at Chelsea, Marina Granovskaia, led the negotiation teams for their respective clubs, and once again the Man who secured the signings of the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and co showed panache.

Golovin signed a 5-year contract worth €30m and has been designated jersey number 17; same number he wore at CSKA.
