Could this be why Chelsea aren’t planning to spend hugely any more this Transfer window?

Billionaire Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and his third wife Dasha Zhukova have announced they’ve split after ten years together.

His previous marriage to second wife Irina Vyacheslavovna Malandina, allegedly cost him £1billion (cash and property) following their divorce.

The general argument among fans about the EPL champions’ bargaining power in the transfer market and their purse is that it has greatly waned.

In 2004 he was valued at $18.2billion and Abramovich bankrolled most of Chelsea’s high profile signings in the early years of his acquisition of the club.

According to Forbes Magazine, the 50-year-old is now worth $9.1billion in 2017.

In a joint statement to the New York Post’s Page Six , the couple described their separation as ‘amicable’.

The statement said: “After 10 years together, the two of us have made the difficult decision to separate, but we remain close friends, parents and partners in the projects we developed together.

“We are committed to jointly raising our two children.

“We will also continue to work together as co-founders of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow and the New Holland Island cultural center in Saint Petersburg.”

The father-of-seven divorced his first wife, Olga Yurevna Lysova in 1990, after walking down the aisle three years earlier.
