Chidozie Awaziem plays down injury fears ahead of Liberia friendly

FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem has declared himself fine and fit for the upcoming international friendly against Liberia on Tuesday in Monrovia.

The 21-year-old was forced off injured in the 73rd minute against Seychelles on Saturday and it has come to light that his substitution was precautionary as he has been cleared by Super Eagles medics.
Awaziem has received the green light from manager Gernot Rohr to play against Liberia, with the German naming him in an 18-man squad announced on Sunday.
Everything appeared to be going smoothly for the ’emergency’ right-back against Seychelles, he was in the right place at the right time to tap in a rebound after Kelechi Iheanacho’s free-kick struck the post.
“No, I’m fine, I couldn’t continue due to the pitch, it was really terrible,” Chidozie told brila.net’s Adeyinka Oyedele in Lagos.
The fast-rising defender also spoke about his relationship with Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho.
“We are good friends in and out of the Eagles camp, we are always together”
Although, Awaziem admitted the goal against Seychelles has nothing to do with their friendship.
The Porto defender is expected to be in the team to face Liberia later on Tuesday.
