Nigeria forward Chinwendu Ihezuo netted her first goal of the 2025 Mexican women’s league season as Pachuca secured a 2-0 victory over Mazatlán FC at the Estadio de Mazatlán.

Captain Veronica Corral opened the scoring in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball in the Mazatlán penalty area.

Match Highlights

Deep into first-half stoppage time, Ihezuo seized another loose ball, skillfully lobbing it over the goalkeeper to double Pachuca’s lead.

Ihezuo was substituted in the 83rd minute for Oke Ayooluwa, an American-born defender who has represented the U.S. at the U-20 level.

Other Performances

Osinachi Ohale, another Nigerian international, played the full 90 minutes in Pachuca’s defense, contributing to the team’s clean sheet.

League Standing

The win propelled Pachuca to the top of the league standings with 10 points from four matches.

However, Club América has the opportunity to reclaim the top spot depending on the result of their match on Monday.

Next Match

Pachuca will face San Luis on January 27, 2025, as they aim to maintain their strong form in the league.
