Former Super Eagles striker Raphael Chukwu Ndukwe has downplayed the importance of FIFA rankings following the latest release which saw Nigeria drop a spot from 33rd to 34th in the world.
Chukwu-Ndukwe, in a chat with www.brila.net said having the team improve in performance by playing games against stronger oppositions will really help improve the young Eagles, rather than playing for ranking points.
“I’m really impressed with the Nigeria Football Federation, the quality of friendlies lined up for this Eagles will help them; is it better to play Togo and win 2-0 to gain ranking points or play all these strong teams and improve, because we have a lot of young boys that need international exposure even though they may be in Europe. They need more exposure playing all these bigger national teams.”
