Samuel Chukwueze was on parade as Villarreal advanced to the quarter final of UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The young winger came on as a second half substitute in Villareal’s shocking 3-0 away victory against favorite Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.
With the game locked at 0-0, The Yellow Submarine gaffer opted to bring on Chukwueze for Yeremi Pino in the 64th minute.
The substitute proved to be the right one as Chukwueze provided more depth and threats on the right for Villarreal.
The Spanish team went ahead in the 78th minute, after leading scorer Gerard Moreno converted from the penalty spot.
Pau Torres put Villarreal in strong position with the second goal in the 85th minute.
Chukwueze thought he had scored the third when he had the ball in the back of the net, but the referee had already blew his whistle for hand ball in the box against Matthijs De Ligt.
Nigerian-Dutch winger Arnaut Danjuma stepped up and converted penalty in the 92nd minute.
The victory means Villarreal advanced to the quarter final 4-1 on aggregate, after the first leg in Spain ended 1-1.
The last time the Europa League holders got to the Champions League quarter-finals was in the 2008-2009 season.
