It was a good night for Samuel Chukwueze and his Villarreal teammates as they secure a 1-0 away victory over Croatia giants Dinamo Zagreb, in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League last-eight tie at the Stadion Maksimir on Thursday.
Chukwueze was among the starters picked by coach Unai Emery for the game alongside Gerard Moreno and Carlos Bacca and the trio was able to impress.
The visitors scored the only goal of the game through a penalty kick in the 44th minutes of the match.
Villarreal were awarded the spot-kick after Kevin Theophile-Catherine handled the ball in the penalty box and Spanish star Gerard Moreno calmly slotted the ball into the net.
Samuel Chukwueze almost doubled his side’s advantage in the second half as he directed a shot on target, but the Dinamo goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic saved it.
Samuel Chukwueze who was lively all night was later substituted Moi Gomez in the 69th minute.
The victory gives the Spanish Laliga Santander side an advantage ahead of the return leg in Spain next week.
