Leicester City Boss, Claude Puel opened up on his concerns over the fitness levels of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho ahead of the club’s opening game of the new season.
Leicester City play away to Manchester United in their first Premier League game of the season and Puel has expressed concerns over the fitness of his returning international players.
Despite the worries cited by the Manager, Iheanacho has netted in back to back games in pre-season and the striker could be in contention for to start against the Red Devils.
The goals are a delight for Puel though, and in spite of his agitation praised the “mentality” of the young Nigerian.
After the 1-1 result against Valencia in Wednesday’s pre-season game at the King Power Stadium, Puel said that, “I think he came back with a good mentality, of course he cannot play for a long time at the moment with good fitness levels.
“I’m happy about this, but we needed to make attention and protect them with rotation and to work on their fitness step by step. We will see what’s happened,” Puel expressed.
