Club Brugge beats AC Milan to sign Raphael Onyedika

Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika has joined Belgian side Club Brugge from FC Midtjylland.

The deal was officially announced on Sunday and the player put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Club Brugge.

In a statement released on their website on Sunday, the Belgian Jupiler giants said:

“Club Brugge and FC Midtjylland reached an agreement for the transfer of Raphael Onyedika,”

“Onyedika (21) is a defensive midfielder who can also play centrally in the defence. He was trained at FC Ebedei in Nigeria and came to Europe in 2019.”

Onyedika was heavily linked with Serie A Champions, AC Milan, following his impressive run for Midtjylland last season.

The Italians wanted him to replace Franc Kessie who left to join Barcelona, but the Rossoneri failed to match Midtjylland’s valuation for the player.

Onyedika departed the Danish league with the best young player award he won last season.
