Criticize me, but don’t touch my Players – Peseiro

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has pleaded with the media to get behind the his team as they continue their journey to 2023 African Cup of Nations.

Peseiro spoke with the press, Sunday, in Morocco ahead of the AFCON qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe.

The Portuguese stated that the team, fans and media have to be on the same page, if the Super Eagles is to achieve the target of winning a fourth African title for Nigeria come next year.

“Of course, there’s no football without fans and media, likewise there is no football without the players. So we need everyone to the team,” Peseiro said during his pre-match Conference.

“I’m here to help the team in the AFCON and we need to work together. Like our Captain said in the last conferences, we appreciate your (media) work, but you have to respect us.

“Sometimes you praise or criticize our work, maybe I don’t agree with everything, but I accept.”

“You have to help our young players. Again, you if you want to criticize, criticize the coach and not the players, because they want to play and win. But sometimes it is not easy with the pressure,” the Coach concluded.

The Super Eagles will slug it out with Sao Tome and Principe on Monday in Morocco.
