Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers has expressed his desire to remain at Rangers beyond this season, despite swirling rumours suggesting he could be on his way out of Ibrox.
The Nigerian forward joined Rangers from Serie A side Cremonese in the summer of 2023 in a deal reportedly worth €5 million.
Since then, his journey in Scotland has been filled with ups and downs, impressive individual numbers against a backdrop of team inconsistency and constant scrutiny.
Dessers has scored 23 goals and provided 7 assists this season across all competitions.
With speculation mounting that the 30-year-old could be sold in the summer, Dessers insists he wants to stay and deliver more success.
“I’m very keen. I came here two summers ago with the ambition to fight for trophies, to win trophies,” Dessers said.
“I’m sitting here, we had two amazing runs in Europe, but we only won a trophy, and I don’t think that’s enough. I’m really hungry to win more silverware at this club.
“So, for me, I’m very keen. But obviously, there’s going to be a lot happening, and I’m looking forward to that as well.”
Dessers still has two years remaining on his contract, but with Rangers under pressure to rebuild, his future remains uncertain.
The Gers claimed the Scottish League Cup last season, but fans continue to crave a return to dominance in the Premiership, a title they’ve won just once since 2010.
Nonetheless, he remains focused on finishing the season strong and hitting personal targets.
“Obviously, you want to score every game. I think I have like 23 goals now for the season, it will be very nice to surpass 25,” he added.
