Danjuma explains Falconets lack of goals at the World Cup

Head coach Christopher Danjuma has defended his team’s inability to score more goals at the ongoing Women’s U20 FIFA World Cup in Costa Rica.

The Falconets have a 100 percent record after two games at the tournament so far, but they have scored twice in over 180 minutes of football.

Speaking after Sunday’s encounter against the Korean Republic, Danjuma explained the reason behind his decision now to allow the team push too forward.

“Football is about playing with tactics that suit you, the Koreans are pacy and love to run into the box, so all we need is to stop from getting into these areas.”

“It is to say why can’t they move forward and score more goals, but I saw a weak link in the team and instruct them not to be too open so that it doesn’t result to counter, so it’s better to play deep, not deeper like that, but we set trap for the opponents.” He said.

The Falconets however are through to the quarter-final of the tournament.
