Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has confirmed that David Luiz may be close to another appearance in the first-team squad before the end of the season.
Luiz was allegedly left out of Conte’s plans due to a disagreement in training but the Brazilian has also been suffering from an ongoing knee problem.
In Friday’s press conference, Conte told reporters that David Luiz is working really hard and might be close to making a first-team return.
“I don’t know, I don’t know. We’ll see. For sure, now, he’s having training sessions and is improving a lot.
“He had this problem in his knee. He’s working. Working very hard. He’s aiming to come back before the final of the season.”
Luiz has not featured since February 5 and while Conte has said that the player continues to ‘work hard’, participating in a game before the end of the campaign remains uncertain.
