De Ligt to Juventus a done deal

A breaking report from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf suggests that Matthijs de Ligt’s transfer to Juventus is complete.

The 19-year-old trained with Ajax this morning but there were doubts over whether he would be part of the squad for their pre-season tour.

Journalist Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf now reports that an agreement has been reached between Juventus and Ajax with all the paperwork completed, meaning De Ligt will join Juventus.

There been speculation in Italy that the move may happen today so that De Ligt can be announced over the weekend and join Juventus on their Asian tour this summer.

According to De Telegraaf, the fee is an unconfirmed fixed amount of €70m but there’s no word on how it will be paid or the structure of the deal.

France Football have also confirmed the deal is complete with De Ligt expected to earn €12m a season, signing a five year contract with Juventus.

Media in Italy suggest the deal is almost complete but are waiting to declare it finalised although TopCalcio journalist Luca Momblano suggests De Ligt has already boarded a plane from Amsterdam to Monaco and on to Turin.

The deal could be ‘unofficially’ announced at the weekend with the official announcement coming Monday morning.
