Deji Ayeni rues missed chances as dominant Sunshine Stars slipped up in Okigwe

Sunshine Stars FC coach, Deji Ayeni is disappointed with his side’s narrow defeat to Abia Warriors in the 2021-2022 NPFL match day two.

The Owena Whales suffered a 1-0 defeat in the thrilling Boxing Day contest at the Okigwe Township Stadium.

Sunshine Stars played a very good game, but poor finishing cost them at least a point.

Paul Samson’s brilliant solo in the first half stoppage time was enough to win the game for the hosts

“We take positive from the game and go back to work on our mistakes.” Deji Ayeni said to the press after the game.

The tactician also believes he adopted the best tactics for the game, but strikers’ profligacy in front of goal cost them dearly.

“Every game has its own tactical approach; I approached this game based on the information availble to me on Abia style of play, hence the strong and dominant approach to the second half.”

“Now we are going home to get our three maximum points, we almost got a draw here if not for hard luck. Our striker profligacy is down to anxiety, we will work on it and make them see reason to calm down in front of goal.” He said.
