Dennerby not pleased with Falcons despite Zambia’s mauling

Super Falcons Coach, Thomas Dennerby rues his team inability to convert clear cut chances despite mauling the Shepolopolo of Zambia 4:0 in The AWCON clash at Cape Coast on Wednesday.

Desire Oparanozie, Francisca Ordega, Rasheedat Ajibade and Amarachi Okoronkwo got the goals for eight time African champions, but star striker Asisat Oshoala was guilty of missing several chances on the day.

Dennerby, was relieved with the victory, after they suffered shocking defeat to South Africa in the first game but he opined that the team could have gotten more goals against Shepolopolo.

“First of all, I am very happy we managed to score four goals in this game but honestly I am not 100 percent happy with our performance because we should have scored more goals,” Dennerby told CAF media.

“After our opening game in which we lost, I talked about being professional and using experience to come back in the next game, not being anxious and work on hard.

The Swede, however believes his side must work hard to be ready for the last group game against Equatorial Guinea.

“I don’t think this game we won today is the defining game in the group and now we have to work harder in our next fixture so we secure a place in the semi-finals. So we stay cool and keep working. Of course I am happier than three days ago.”

A win for the Nigerians against Equatorial Guinea who was was beaten 7:1 by the Bayana Bayana of South on Wednesday will see them book a place in the semi-final.
