Dennis, Awoniyi’s Forest embarrassed in Haaland-inspired Manchester City win

Emmanuel Dennis and Taiwo Awoniyi suffer an embarrassing defeat with Nottingham Forest against Manchester City on Wednesday.

The duo were in action as the newly promoted side suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Champions, Manchester City, at the Etihad.

Awoniyi and Dennis arrived Forest this summer for a combined fee of £43m plus bonuses, but neither is yet to make a major impact at the club.

The duo started from the on bench at the Etihad, and were both introduced by Manager Steve Cooper the second half as double substitutes.

Their introduction, however, yielded little or nothing as they failed to lift their already beaten teammates.

Erling Haaland made it back-to-back Premier League hat-tricks in the first half before a goal from Joao Cancelo and two from Julian Alvarez capped Manchester City’s perfect performance.

Awoniyi has one goal in five games for Forest, while Dennis is yet to score or assist in two games.

The duo will be aiming to make meaningful impacts when Nottingham Forest hosts fellow strugglers, Bournemouth, on Saturday.
