Dennis fire blank as Watford bow out of EFL Cup to Stoke City

Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis played a part in Watford’s Carabao Cup defeat to Stoke City at the Vicarage Road on Tuesday.

Dennis who was among the goal scores in Watford’s last Premier League game against Norwich was dropped to the bench as coach Xisco Munoz fielded fringe players.

However the Spanish gaffer decided to bring on the Nigerian international to help salvage the result, but it was too late as Stoke City held on for a famous 3-1 victory.

Nick Powell gave the Potters the lead in the 18th minute, thanks to an assist from Alfie Doughty.

The Hornets managed to get an equalizer on the 64th minute when Ashley Fletcher scored from close range.

Watford lost total control of the game after the equalizer and Stoke City scored twice in 80th and 85th minute to seal a 3-1 win.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong watched from the bench throughout, but Oghenekaro Etebo who is on loan from Stoke City wasn’t listed for the game.
