Cyriel Dessers is disappointed with Genk’s defeat to Club Brugge in their first league game of the season.
Genk played a very good game, but failed to come off with a point from the match.
Dessers scored one of the goals as Wouter Vrancken’s side lost 3-2 to the Champions on Sunday.
“The result is terrible, but we can also learn a lot from this. There is quality around here. If you can bring this against the title favorite you are doing well. I have already had fun,” Dessers said.
The Forward had few nervy moments with the fans and when he scored he celebrated the goal cheerfully. He also blew kisses towards the Club Brugge crowd during his substitution.
“When I get whistled, I just like it. It’s a sign that you are playing well. That’s all part of it.”
Dessers scored a typical striker’s goal himself, and had two good chances to add to his tally, but failed to take them.
“I could go up to Mignolet twice,” he nodded. “First he picked up well and then the ball got stuck in the dry grass below me, allowing Mata to intervene.
“It was a typical Club Brugge match of ours. We’ve been through it before: playing well and leaving empty-handed,” He concluded.
