Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has explained how missed out of a transfer to Spanish premiere Liga side Celta Vigo.
Dessers scored 15 goals for his former club Heracles Almelo in the Dutch Eredivisie last campaign and attracted interest from top teams.
Italian side Cagliari and SPAL showed interest in signing the 25-year-old, but the deal failed to materialise after some talks.
Dessers who has now joined Genk of Belgium said, he was close to signing for Spanish side Celta Vigo, but Heracles pulled out the plug from the deal.
“In my head I was almost at Celta, but Heracles blocked the transfer,” Dessers told La Derniere Heure.
“They needed their top scorer.
“I also spoke with SPAL, but the club was last in Serie A and that didn’t really appeal to me.” he said.
Gent paid €7m to sign Dessers and he has scored just once in three topflight matches for the club so far in the 2020-2021 Belgian jupiler league season.
