Dessers Staying Put at KRC Genk

Dessers Staying Put at KRC Genk

Cyriel Dessers is expected to be in action when KRC Genk kick off their campaign for the new season in the game against Club Brugge, Sunday.

Dessers returned to the club after last season’s loan at Feyenoord, and coach Wouter Vrancken has retained the 27-year-old in the squad for this campaign.

With first choice striker Paul Onuachu doubtful for the clash, Dessers could get the nod to lead Genk’s attack against Club Brugge.

The Limburgers are on the road for the match and Vrancken is now banking on the forward to deliver against the national champions.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Vrancken said all the players, including Dessers must stay focused.

“The expectations are clear, the focus is there. We realize that we will have to be top immediately on Sunday.

“Of course it is still very early in the season and some guys only have a few weeks of preparation in their legs. But whoever is ready plays and who plays will have to be ready.”
