Head Coach of Cameroon Gabriel Zabo said he’s disappointed with the defeat to Nigeria, but believes his team will bounce back from the setback.
Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses have lost 9 of 10 meetings against the Super Falcons and on Thursday night in Casablanca, they fell 1-0 in a quarter-final match up in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Victory for Nigeria also means the team picked one of four automatic qualification spots for the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year.
Speaking after the game, Zabo refused to blame his players for failing to create enough scoring chances, but instead praised them for pushing the defending Champions all the way.
“It’s not all over, we still have a chance to qualify for the World Cup this Sunday.
“My players showed by their level of play tonight that they were happy to be globalists.”
The gaffer then turned his attention to the FIFA World Cup match Cameroon will play on Sunday against Botswana.
“We have a few hours to watch the video this match, see what was going on and what was wrong. I will give the girls some time to digest this elimination. But I assure you that we will get back on track very quickly.”
