Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst could not hide his pride for Leon Balogun, Calvin Bassey, and Joe Aribo after their heroic performance against Leipzig.
The Super Eagles trio played a great game as the Gers beat their German opposition to final Europa League final tickets.
Defenders, Balogun and Bassey kept Leipzig’s top scorer Christopher Nkunku at bay, while Aribo terrorized their defense, despite playing an unfamiliar false nine role.
Rangers advanced to their first European final for 14 years with a 3-2 aggregate victory over RB Leipzig in the Europa League semi-final and the Dutch manager was full of praises for the entire team, including the Nigerians.
“It’s very hard to find the words. It’s been an amazing night.
“We said before the game we’d do everything possible. The players were fantastic. You can’t write a script better than this.
“The two opening goals were fantastic, just like we wanted. We knew Leipzig would come at us, then to score in the last 10 minutes gives you an enormous boost.
Van Bronkhorst who joined Rangers after Steven Gerrard left for Aston Villa has now called on the players to go and win the final.
“Not many players can play European finals. It’s not for every player. Once we’re there, we need to do everything to win it. It’s remarkable.” He said.
