The Super Eagles began life without Chelsea’s Victor Moses with a 3-0 unimpressive victory over the Seychelles National team in a 2019 AFCON Group E qualifier on Saturday.
German tactician, Gernot Rohr went for a very solid Eleven against the lowly rated African side, with the only new inclusion as starter being Samuel Kalu, who made his senior international debut.
However, Kalu was the top performer for the Eagles on the afternoon, playing 84 minutes of brilliant attacking football that won the hearts of fans back in Nigeria.
The Bordeaux Number 10 was lively from the blast of the referee’s whistle to his exit, with his pace troubling the whole Seychelles team.
Kalu’s deft touches on the ball were a joy to behold, while his dribbling and trickery were also impressive, one of which led to the spot kick converted by Changchun Yatai’s forward, Odion Ighalo.
The Super Eagles side played, though struggles on the artificial turf in Victoria, but attack-wise, on the flanks, with Al Nassr’s Ahmed Musa and Samuel Kalu, Moses was obviously not missed.
