Former Super Eagles striker Peter Odemwingie singled out winning an Olympic Silver medal with the Dream Team as his most memorable football moment.
Odemwingie was integral part of Nigeria’s U-23 team that went all the way to the final at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
The Uzbekistan-born forward scored twice in the tournament to help Nigeria reach the final, but the Samson Siasia-led team succumbed to the firepower of an Argentine side led by Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Angel Di maria.
Before his retirement from football, Osaze played at two FIFA World Cup tournament and won two African cup of Nations bronze medals.
At club level, he’s also one of the few Nigerian players to have won multiple player of the Month award in the English Premier league.
However, despite his achievements, the striker said the winning Olympics silver medal remain special.
“It was a special moment because we didn’t even a complete kit because we were sent away earlier because and our federation thought we’re not going to reach the final,” He told premier league TV.
“we played well against Holland, beat Japan, Cote d’Ivoire beat Belgium, we cruised to the final and could not believe it. Argentina won by 1-0 only, we took photos with Maradona and that was enough for us.”
