Dream Team VII Will Qualify For The Olympics – Awoniyi

Dream Team VII attaker Taiwo Awoniyi says the team has what it takes to pick Tokyo 2020 Olympic ticket when they file out against other oppositions at the U-23 African Cup of Nations in Egypt next month.

Holders Nigeria will square up against South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia in Group B of the competition, while host Nations Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana and Mali will trade tackles in the Group B.

The championship will be held between November 8-22 at Cairo International Stadium and Al Salam Stadium and Awoniyi believed the Dream Team VII has enough qualities to retain the tournament they won in Senegal.

“I think there is so much quality in this team (Olympic Eagles) and I think we can go far with the kind of players that have been in the team.”

“The coach (Imama Amakapabo) is really working so well because even when we come together even for some days, everyone can see the difference in the team.”

“I think the coaches are really doing a great work in the team and I believe everything is possible in football. I believe the team will do well by God’s grace at the U-23 AFCON in Egypt.” He said.

The top three teams of the Africa Cup of Nations will represent Africa at the 2020 Olympic Games billed for Tokyo.

Nigeria won the last edition in Senegal after defeating Algeria 2-1 with Oghenekaro Etebo scoring twice at Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar.
