Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi was on parade for Nottingham Forest as they knocked out Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

Awoniyi featured for just over an hour and was impressive for Steve Cooper’s team, who secured a place in the next round of the tournament, with a 2-0 win at the City Ground.

While Awoniyi was tormenting Spurs’ defense, his compatriot Emmanuel Dennis was on the bench.

The forward however was unable to cap his fine display with a goal and was replaced by Brennan Johnson.

Two second half goals from Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard sent Forest marching into the fourth round of the competition.

Meanwhile, the win was the first in three matches for the Premier League new boys.
