Eguaveon tasks Randy Waldrum to replace aging Super Falcons Stars

The Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Augustine Eguaveon has advised the Head of Super Falcons Randy Waldrum to replace aging players.

The Reigning African Champions were beaten 4-2 by South Africa’s Bayana Bayana on Tuesday in Lagos.

The result means the Falcons have now conceded four-goal against African opposition in their history and also beaten by the South Africans for the second time in three years.

Players like Onome Ebi, Rita Chikwelu, Francisca Ordega, Desire Oparanozie, Asisat Oshoala, and Ngozi Okobi are part of the old guard who is still with the team.

Reacting to the result, Eguaveon stated the South Africans were better than the Falcons and added that, the time is right to replace the aging players with new ones.

“The South Africans are younger and sharper. Though the first two goals were unfortunate, I think the visitors were the better side in this half,” Eguavoen said.

“I think it is time we look inward for younger players to replace our aging Super Falcons – players who could match the tempo of any African team. We are blessed with young talents all over the country waiting to be tapped. I am optimistic that the coaches have taken notes and will try to turn things around in the second half.” he concluded.
