Eguavoen explains why Osimhen, Chukwueze, and Moses skipped training

Super Eagles gaffer Austine Eguavoen has explained why some players sat out of recovery training on Saturday.

The Super Eagles began preparations for the second leg of the final leg of Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tie with Ghana on Saturday shortly after returning to Abuja.

The likes of Simon Moses, Victor Osimhen, Innocent Bonke and Samuel Chukwueze sat out of the training in Abuja and there were concerns over their fitness ahead of the Tuesday’s game.

However, in a chat with NFF TV on Saturday, the former Black Leopard boss confirmed that Samuel Chukwueze picked a knock in the first leg, but expects him and others to return to training soon.

“Some players didn’t get involved now because one or two had a knock yesterday and recover training, people that played 90 and 94 minutes usually we do just a little bit and then rest.

“People who didn’t play up to 70 minutes will do more, that’s exactly what we just did like few of them that had knocks like Chukwueze we just want to rest him and he can probably resume tomorrow (today).” He said.

With the second leg billed for the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, the Super Eagles remain the favorite to pick the ticket.
