Nigeria Football Federation Technical Director, Agustine Augustine Eguaveon has explained why Joseph Yobo is not with the home based Super Eagles in Abuja.
Yobo who is first assistant to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is supposed to be in charge of the home based Super Eagles, but he has been missing from the camp since team resumed camping on Tuesday for the international friendly against Mexico.
In Yobo’s absence, Eguaveon and his assistant Paul Aigbogun took charge of training session, a move that generated arguments in the media.
Eguaveon however addressed the media on Thursday and gave his honest opinion about the whole situation.
He said: ” When I contacted Joseph that a game is coming up against Mexico – he said wasn’t aware, but after some minutes, he said he is not sure he will be coming, because he has family issues.”
“So I asked the General Secretary if Yobo is on the trip, because he’s supposed to step in when Rohr isn’t around and the General Secretary said Rohr is going to be with he team.”
“At this moment, I am working with the players and getting advice from other NPFL coaches on some players invited.”
