Interim coach Austin Eguavoen is unsure if Napoli will grant Victor Osimhen the permission to join Nigeria for the African Cup of Nations.
Osimhen finished as the top scorer in the qualification round with six goals and he’s Nigeria’s most dangerous weapon at the moment.
However, Osimhen has not featured for his Club Napoli since fracturing his cheekbone against Inter Milan at San Siro last month.
The player was expected to be out for three months, but made a surprise return to training three weeks after his success operation.
Eguavoen said, he’s hoping to have the striker for the tournament, but admitted, Napoli holds the yam and knife regarding his release.
“Firstly we hope he is healthy, recovers fully and ensure the club allows him join the squad.”
“However, if this doesn’t work out, I’m sure he’d want the team to goon and do well, but we also have other players Awoniyi, Dennis and others who can deliver.” He told brila.net.
