Eguma believes CAF CC group is “Now Open” and Players must pick Away Points

Rivers United Coach Stanley Eguma insists Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup has been thrown open following the 1-0 win against FUS Rabat on Wednesday but now wants his players to fight for points away from home.

 

Emeka Atuloma 72nd minute goal was the decider on the day and Eguma praised the team for digging deep and “fighting on when the game became tougher.”

Speaking in a presser after Wednesday’s match, Eguma said the victory came the hard way, but the players can now believe winning is possible.

“Today’s victory was a hard earned one. I thank God for that and also thank my players for fighting on, even when the game became tougher and tougher; We got the victory.

“The Group is thrown open now and that’s the beauty of the game it makes the group every tough. We’ve gotten our victory and it will spur our players to believe if others can win we can also win.”

He said, “What we need now is consistency and also try as much as possible to get points away.”

“For me we’ll take the matches as they come and the opponents as they come. We’ve play two north Africans now and we’re used to them now.

“We not underrating the Ugandans, this is football. I just want to say we’re still fighting on we’re very optimistic we can still get there and there and get points away.

“The group is open and like I said we’ll still fight on. Match after match we’ll grab the points and we believe we can come out of the group. All we need to do now is intensify our game and show a lot of commitment and hard work.”
