Eguma critical Squad condition after uninspiring draw against lowly Wikki Tourists

Rivers United head Coach, Stanley Eguma is unhappy with the result of the NPFL match against Wikki Tourists on Friday.

Eguma rued the wasted scoring opportunities in the game which saw his side eventually end up with a point in the goalless encounter.

The Champions were lucky to leave Bauchi with a point after 9th-placed Wikki Tourists missed a penalty that would have made the difference.

“We had a lot of scoring chances which we missed. They got a penalty as well and missed, but I think it was a good game, and a balanced game technically.

“We suffered a little bit of fatigue, and that affected our game. We take every game as they come, we plan for every game. Today (Friday) we planned to win here, but we got a draw.”

Rivers will face Sunshine Stars, and Doma United, before traveling to take on Rangers on the final day (May 21st), as they continue to push for a place in the super 6.

“We will go back home and correct our mistakes, and intensify our preparations for the next game, and I think we will come out better in the next game.

“We tried to get the three points, but I won’t say unfortunately, but we didn’t get the desired result, and it’s okay.

“You can see we played with almost our second team here, as most of our key players that played in the past are not here, due to injury and fatigue, so we had to rest them.”

The Champions remain second in Group B with three points behind leaders Lobi Stars.
