Rivers United head Coach, Stanley Eguma says his players gave their best against Abia Warriors and regretted they didn’t back their performance up with a win.

Abia Warriors forced the NPFL Champions to a goalless draw at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Saturday night.

Goalkeeper Darlington Ovunda produced a moment of magic, stopping a penalty in the 67th minute to deny Rivers United.

The outcome leaves them trailing Lobi Stars in group B, four points adrift the leaders, with a game in hand.

“We tried our best and we hope for victory before the game, but we take this point as it comes and hope to bounce back with good display,” Eguma said.

Rivers United will next face Motema Pembe in the CAF Confederation Cup.
