Rivers United boss Stanley Eguma said continuity, hard work, and determination are the reasons behind his side’s success this season.
Rivers United clinched the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title with three games to spare.
The Pride of Rivers are by the most consistent side in the league this season — holding the joint-most home wins (16 with Plateau United), the most away wins (5), the least away losses (6).
They are also one win away from setting a new point record in the League.
“There is so much to it (the title). It’s just that one has a longtime program of success and it starts from one day,” Eguma stated, “Like five, two, three seasons, we have been working on the team.
“We have been working on them to ensure that we get perfection for the last two seasons. Last two seasons (2020), we came out in the third position.”
“Last season (2021) we came out in the second position. That’s a progressive improvement in our performances.”
“I think another factor was the determination of the entire team to achieve success this season.” He said.
