Eguma warns LMC against ending the season due to Covid19

Rivers United technical adviser, Stanley Eguma, has warned Organizers of the Nigeria Professional Football League that the season cannot end abruptly without the remaining 13 matches.

The 2019 /2020 season was been suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak and there are calls from different quarters that the authorities should stop the season and declare table toppers Plateau United the champions.

However, Eguma insisted the campaign must be concluded before a champion can emerge and urged the League Management Company to learn from against the of 2018, when Lobi Stars were chosen to represent Nigeria in CAF Champions League without season being concluded.

“How can they declare a winner when the race is not concluded? There can only a true champion after the season is concluded. This happened in 2018 when Lobi were declared champions without concluding the season because the organizers has problems and they ended performing poorly in CAF Champions League,” said Eguma.

Rivers United are second on the log with 45 points in 25 matches, only four points adrift of leaders Plateau United With 13 matches to end the season, Eguma, while Lobi Stars third with just two points separating both sides.
