Ekong confident Watford will return to the Premier League

William Troost-Ekong has apologized to Watford’s fans following their relegation to the Championship and promised they’ll do everything to ensure to return.

In a statement on his social media, Ekong admitted the players didn’t deliver the performance required to keep the team in the elite division.

“Thank you Hornets for staying behind the team and supporting us all through this rollercoaster season.”

“We haven’t delivered what you deserve. As a Watford fan first and foremost, I share your disappointment.”

“As unforgettable as the promotion was a year ago, this will also be a season which, bar some special moments, will stay with me for all the wrong reasons.”

“We did it before, and Watford, I know, can do it again next season.”

Troost-Ekong made 17 appearances for Watford in the Premier League this season.

The Hornets have struggled all season, and a 1-0 loss at Selhurst Park – their 25th of the league campaign – ensured they will finish in the bottom three this campaign.

Watford is second from the bottom of the log with 23 points, just one point adrift of Norwich City in the last position.
