Ekong, Dennis and Etebo to play under new manager at Watford

Ekong, Dennis and Etebo to play under new manager at Watford

Watford have sacked their coach Xisco Munoz following their poor start to the 2021-2022 Premier League campaign.

The Spanish coach replaced Vladimir Ivic as head coach at Vicarage Road in December 2020 and he guided Hornet back to the Premier League.

However, Munoz was dismissed from his role after the Hornets just 7 points from the opening 7 league matches.

The team suffered their fourth defeat against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday and it was the final nail to his coffin at the Club.

A club statement read: “The board feels recent performances strongly indicate a negative trend at a time when team cohesion should be visibly improving.

“The Hornets will always be grateful to Xisco for the part he played in securing last season’s promotion and wish him well for his future career in football.

“No further club comment will be available until the imminent announcement of a new head coach.”

Munoz, who becomes the first manager to be sacked in the Premier League this season, started the new campaign with a 3-2 win against Aston Villa at Vicarage Road.

Munoz is one of the most popular managers in Nigeria, after signing William Troost-Ekong, Emmanuel Dennis, and Oghenekaro Etebo for the club.
