Plateau united captain and NPFL Players representative on the board of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria Elisha Golbe has expressed mixed feelings on the newly announced December 27 kickoff date for the 2020/21 season after series of postponements in previous kickoff dates.
Golbe told brila.net that while players had long agitated for the kickoff of the league season, doing so now at a time when some teams had decamped players and set to grant holidays to players the decision to have the league kickoff appears too sudden.
He added that they will however still comply if it becomes a genuine league commencement for the season.
“I don’t believe it because the time frame is just 10 days and some of the teams are on break for now so you know just calling teams, the league has been postponed severally and you know this is festive period. We are not saying no to that, they have the decision but at least it is too sudden.”
