Enoch Adegoke says he’s honored to represent Nigeria in the final of the Men’s 100m race at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics Games.
The 21-year-old reached the final on Sunday after running 9.98second to win his heat and 9.00 seconds in the semi-final.
However, The Nigerian failed to win a medal as he pulled his hamstring and was unable to complete the race, but it was not enough to stop him from going into the history book.
Adegoke became the third Nigerian to race in the final of the Olympics 100m event after Oladapo Adenikan and Davidson Ezenwa
Speaking in an exclusive interview with brila.net, Adekoge says, he’s happy to make history in Tokyo.
“It has been an awesome moment, coming here and making history, running sub 9, reaching the final, it’s been an honor to achieve all these things. I was told yesterday that it has been 25 years since any Nigerian male got to the final.” he told brila.net.
On the injury that stopped him from finishing the race, Adegoke said : “It was a minor hamstring sprain, but I’m feeling better anyway.” He concluded.
