Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Vitus Okechi has revealed that the state government will give Rangers international the maximum supports it needs to excel as they prepare for CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

Okechi stated this in a media chat with Sports journalist following Rangers 1-0 slim win against Togolese Champions, ASC Kara in Sunday’s second leg playoff match at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium.

The result meant that the ‘Flying Antelopes’ qualified on away goal rule after losing 2-1 in the first leg in Lome two weeks ago.

“Govt will give Rangers 100% support because to get to this position in the competition was not an easy task”. “We shall encourage the team both financially and otherwise to do well in the group stage”.

The former Commissioner of Transport reiterated  Enugu government’s resolve under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to build on the magnanimity showed to the people of the state on Sunday, when fans and supporters of Rangers were given the opportunity to watch the match free of charge.

According to him, the innovation which is one of his plans to change the face of sports in the state was necessary in order to encourage Enugu people to continue to come out to support Rangers whenever they are involved in high profile matches.
