Enyimba come from behind to beat impressive Jigawa Golden Stars in Aba

Enyimba FC came from behind to beat Jigawa Golden Stars 2-1 in highly contested week 33 NPFL encounter in Aba on Sunday.

Jigawa Golden Stars played a very good game and were unlucky notto leave Aba with at least a point.

The visitors nearly got an early goal in the 4th minute when a defensive mix-up from allowed Samuel Stones to direct an header on target, but the Bassa Djeri was at the right place to make a save.

Enyimba too had their first real chance in the 11th minute. Stanley Okorom located Victor Mbaoma with a cross from the right, but powered to his header into Sochima’s waiting hands.

Enyimba began to dominate and should have at least get goal, but Victor Mbaoma and Ozor, Ruben Bala and Nelson Ogbonnaya all failed to convert glaring chances.

Jigawa Golden Stars however made the Fatai Osho’s side paid for their misses as Sani Bature put them in front in the 43rd minutes.

Sanj Bature reacted quickly to tap home a rebound after Samuel Stone’s shot off the cross bar.

Enyimba surged forward for an equalizer in the first half but Victor Mbaoma nodded a last minute cross wide with the goalkeeper to beat

Enyimba came into the second half fighting, and got the important equaliser two minutes after the restart.

Reuben Bala rose highest in the box to nod home Gabriel Orok’s cross for his third goal for the club since returning from long lay off.

Enyimba’s continued pressure got the needed result in the 88th minute when Tosin Omoyele nodded home Obot’s cross.

The People’s Elephants held on for a victory at home and moved to 4th on the log with a point separating them from Kano Pillars who are on seated 3rd with 58th points.
