Europa League : Rangers boss, Steven Gerrard unhappy with Aribo, others after disappointing draw

Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo featured in Rangers 3 – 3 draw Europa league game with Benfica on Thursday.

Aribo was on the pitch from the start, and missed a good chance, before he was substituted in the 69th minute.

Rangers however went on to surrender a two-goal lead late on in the game as Benfica fought back from the dead to secured a point with few minutes to play , despite going down to ten men.

Although the result helped Gers maintain Rangers place on top of the group with seven points, however Rangers Boss Steven was disappointed with his Aribo and his teammates for letting two slipped away from them.

“That will certainly sting for a while. It obviously feels more like a defeat than a positive point right now.

“But once the dust settles I’m sure it will be a valuable point.

“We’ve got ourselves to blame. We started the game really poor for the opening minute and deserved to be one behind.

“We also finished the game poorly as well, so we certainly have a lot to learn from the goals we conceded.

“It’s certainly very mixed at the moment. It feels like a defeat because at 3-1 our game management and our order on the pitch should have been better to get us over the line,” He said.

Meanwhile, Aribo’s compatriot Leon Balogun sat on the bench for the entire duration of the match.
