Everton boss Lampard makes Alex Iwobi Verdict

Everton boss Frank Lampard has refused to blame Alex Iwobi for his error leading to the defeat against West Ham United at the weekend, instead opting to praise the Winger.

Lampard stated that Iwobi was one of his best player on the pitch on the day and a single mistake won’t change anything.

Iwobi was having a good game in the heart of Everton’s midfield, untill he lost possession and allowed the Hammers score their second goal and the game’s winner.

The defeat was a blow to Everton’s relegation fight and Lampard became the first manager in the history of the Club to taste defeat in four successive away games.

Speaking to the Club’s website, the former England international refused to blame Iwobi for the defeat.

“Iwobi played really well and I hope people don’t focus on the negative and the mistake because if you focus on that you have to remind yourself that he scored the winning goal against Newcastle in our last game,” Lampard said.

Lampard added that, he’s impressed with Iwobi’s ability to play in different positions and how he performed against West Ham.

“He’s got attributes to be able to play in different positions. I thought his work rate was brilliant.

“His play against a very strong midfield, West Ham he gave us a lot by coming into midfield and I thought he did well.”

Iwobi has made 18 Premier League appearances this season and has scored two and registered one assist.
