Former England international, John Fashanu has voiced his support for Victor Osimhen’s potential move to the Premier League, calling it a “fantastic” opportunity for the striker.

Speaking in an interview with Brila.net, Fashanu, who represented Aston Villa in the 1990s, praised Osimhen and expressed his belief that the English top flight would be the ideal stage for the Super Eagles star to continue his career, adding that he would love to see him join Aston Villa.

“He is a great player. I enjoy watching him because you never know what he would do. It would be absolutely fantastic to see Osimhen in the Premier League with a club like Aston Villa,” Fashanu said.

Though supportive of a Premier League move, Fashanu expressed a preference for Osimhen to steer clear of the league’s traditional big clubs.

“I don’t want him going to clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, or Arsenal,” he explained.

Fashanu’s stance appears to reflect a desire to see Osimhen build his legacy in an environment where he won’t be overshadowed by past or current stars, rather, a club where his influence can be immediate and defining, much like his role in Napoli’s success a few years ago.

The 26-year-old Nigerian forward has continued to attract attention from elite clubs across Europe after a prolific season on loan at Galatasaray, where he scored 24 goals in 28 Turkish Super Lig appearances.

His consistent form has sparked discussions of a high profile transfer this summer, with the Premier League widely considered a likely destination.
