Fatai Osho blames poor pitch for Enyimba’s draw with Jigawa

Enyimba coach Fatai Osho blamed the the playing turf of the Ahmadu Bello stadium for his side’s goalless draw against Jigawa Golden Stars.

The visitors dominated against Jigawa but both sides shared the spoils in one of the NPFL week 13 fixtures.

Although the 8-time league winners were unable to play their preferred free flowing passing football, the like Dayo Ojo, Sadiq Abubakar and Tosin Omoyele had glorious opportunities to hit the back of the net.

However, they all failed to get the better part if Jigawa Golden Stars goalkeeper Victor Sochima.

Speaking after the game, Osho said the state of the pitch restricted his wards from playing their best football, but he’s satisfied with a point from the encounter.

“A point gained on the road looking at the state of this pitch. I will give a lot of big kudos to them (the players) because we couldn’t function the way we wanted to function. They had to improvise a lot, a lot of energy was used,” said the Enyimba Coach.

“We tried as much as possible to see how we could put our passes together, we couldn’t get into our rhythm at all and the opponents it’s like they are used to this kind of pitch.

“They looked a bit comfortable more than we were and for us to have ground out this draw is truly something we have to give it to the players,” he told the club’s media.

Enyimba sits fourth on the league standing with 23 points from 11 matches with two games in hand.
