Fenerbahce is not giving up on Bright Osayi-Samuel just yet, as the Turkish Super Lig giants are reportedly preparing a fresh contract offer in a bid to keep the Nigerian beyond this summer.
Osayi-Samuel is in the final months of his current deal with the Canaries and could walk away on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Talks over a contract renewal have dragged on since the start of the year, with the 27-year-old turning down multiple offers from the club, citing unfavourable financial terms.
The versatile defender currently earns €2.5 million per year and is reportedly demanding a significant pay raise to commit his future to Fenerbahce.
Despite the deadlock, club officials have reopened discussions with his representatives, hoping to strike a breakthrough before the season concludes.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Fenerbahce are preparing an improved package they believe will convince Osayi-Samuel to stay in Istanbul.
The club remains desperate to retain his services, especially head coach José Mourinho.
Osayi-Samuel, who joined the club from English side Queens Park Rangers four years ago, has made 171 appearances in all competitions, contributing seven goals and 15 assists.
His consistency and defensive versatility have made him one of the club’s most important assets.
While Fenerbahce is hopeful, the player has not hidden his ambition to return to the Premier League. He has been strongly linked with moves to Everton and Crystal Palace, with reports earlier this season placing him at Selhurst Park for Palace’s clash against Arsenal.
With Premier League clubs able to offer higher wages, Fenerbahce will need more than loyalty to convince Osayi-Samuel to sign a new deal.
However, the defender is still open to staying; if the terms are right.
The coming weeks will be decisive, as Fenerbahce push to secure his future and avoid losing one of their key players for nothing.
