Feyenoord’s manager Arne Slot says he has no problem starting Cyriel Dessers ahead of fan favorites Bryan Lissen on Thursday.
Dessers started the UEFA Conference League clash against Partizan Belgrade, ahead of first choice Lissen who is currently struggling for form.
Dessers justified the decision of the coach as he scored a beautiful goal and inspired the Dutch side to a 2-5 come back win.
Lissen was later introduced to the game and created an assist but, Slot insists Dessers deserves his place in the starting eleven ahead of the first choice.
“He played a great game. He also gave an assist to the 5-2, he was busy, he was busy.
“But before the game I said that Bryan also had an excellent season. a little less. If you then have a good alternative (Dessers), He also deserves to get his chance,” the Coach told ESPN ahead of Sunday’s game.
Dessers now has 5 goals in 7 UEFA Conference League game for Feyenoord this season.
He also has 5 goals in 20 league appearances, and 1 goal in Dutch cup.
The 25 year-old is expected to keep his place in the starting eleven when former Dutch Eredivisie Champions take on Groningen on Sunday.
