Nigeria’s bid to reach the FIBA World Cup fell short as D’Tigers failed to capitalize on a brilliant run of form losing 65-59 to already qualified Angola.
D’Tigers knew only victory in their three encounters would give them a chance to qualify for the FIBA World Cup, and after impressive wins over Ivory Coast and Guinea to hand themselves a lifeline, Angola proved a tough test for them.
The East African side were dominant in Q1, Q2, Q3 but a late rally in the Q4 by D’Tigers couldn’t salvage a result for the team.
D’Tigers noticeably struggling with converting their two pointer’s with a conversion rate of 49% compared to Angola’s 77% and were not accurate enough when trying from 3pts range.
It was a disappointing result for the team, who had already missed out on a World Cup after Cape Verde’s win.
